Major Lou Nemec grew up in the Army as the son of an Army officer with two older sisters and a younger brother. Major Nemec was commissioned in 2001 and completed the Engineer Officer Basic Course and Airborne School. He completed platoon leadership and company executive officer tours at Ft. Stewart, GA and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2002 and Iraq in 2003. He then completed the Engineer Captains Career Course and a tour training Reserve and National Guard Soldiers. He was in Company Command for 23+ months, including 13 months in Iraq, of the 571st Sapper Company, 14th EN BN at Ft. Lewis, WA.
