CPT Benjamin Adams is originally from Mount Clemens, MI. He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2008, majoring in Russian language. After completion of Infantry BOLC and follow-on schooling, CPT Adams was assigned as a rifle platoon leader in Bravo Company, 1-22 IN, 1BCT 4ID in August of 2009. He deployed to the Arghandab district and Kandahar city in southern Afghanistan from 2010-2011 as part of TF Raider. CPT Adams became the Battalion scout platoon leader shortly before redeployment, and remained so until his departure for Fort Benning in early 2012. After completion of Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, CPT Adams was assigned to 3BCT, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, NC. He assumed command of Charlie Troop, 5-73 CAV in February 2013. CPT Adams transitioned to the Squadron Headquarters and Headquarters Troop (HHT) commander in February 2014. While 5-73 CAV leadership was deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, he served as the Squadron rear detachment commander for 5 months before beginning graduate school in the fall of 2015. CPT Adams’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Expert Infantryman Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Sapper Tab, and the Ranger Tab. CPT Adams’ wife was his USMA classmate, and currently teaches Arabic in the Department of Foreign Languages. Their daughter was born in February 2016.
