Blackboard Workshops

As part of our Blackboard.com hosting, IETD has contracted with Blackboard professional trainers to deliver two-day workshops to USMA faculty entitled: 

Using Blackboard to Enhance Teaching and Learning
These workshops will consist of topical sessions and will take place 06 OCT through 09 OCT 2014 in Jefferson Library, Room 002 (the CEP Reading Lab). The sessions are as follows:
 06 & 07 OCT 2014:
  • 0900-1030 Getting Started with Course Delivery
  • 1030-1200 Creating and Managing Assignments
  • 1300-1430 Creating and Managing Tests & Surveys
  • 1430-1600 Designing Engaging Discussions
08 & 09 OCT 2014:
  • 0900-1030 Presenting Dynamic Content
  • 1030-1200 Monitoring and Retaining Students
  • 1300-1430 Mastering the Grade Center
  • 1430-1600 Content Management and Portfolios
 Please Note: Sessions are designed with regard to teaching schedules; the 06 and 08 OCT 14 sessions are intended for faculty who teach on 2 days and the 07 and 09 OCT 14 sessions for faculty who teach on 1 days. Faculty can attend both full days of the workshop or mix and match sessions over both days; however, signing up and not attending will preclude a colleague from taking advantage of this opportunity. 
 
Sign-up by clicking the Blackboard Workshop Sign-up button below and choosing your preferred session(s) from the drop-down menu in the resulting pop-up window. When you click Save after making your choice, the menu will disappear and your name and session choice will be recorded on the list.These workshops are limited to 20 attendees per session. Each session choice requires a separate registration and all registrations will be confirmed via email.

Please Note: Since the list requested in the pop-up is on an internal site, the list only loads the within the USMA network.

Blackboard Workshop Descriptions

Blackboard I:  Introduction to Blackboard 9.1

Bb3.jpgIntroduction to Blackboard provides an overview of the most commonly used features of the Blackboard course management system. The workshop consists of a demonstration and discussion of the faculty and student interfaces and building courses. Participants learn the features and functionality of the software.

Blackboard 2:  Creating and Managing Discussions and Assessments in Blackboard 9.1

This workshop is designed as a follow up to the Introduction to Blackboard workshop. The workshop will focus on the use of asynchronous and synchronous discussions to enhance teaching and learning and provides an overview of the assessment and survey features of Blackboard. This consists of a brief demonstration of a discussion and an assessment created in Blackboard followed by hands-on experience building discussions and assessments.
