Walk it off...Through various events during the year, Higher Ground seeks to promote the bonds of fellowship among all Christian Men in our community. Activities have included mountain retreats, fire side bible studies, and Habitat For Humanity projects in the surrounding communities. There is no limit to what God can do through those that love one another.About Higher GroundHigher Ground is a Christian men’s ministry that serves the West Point community and whose aim is to foster an environment in which men may dwell together in unity as we seek to serve the West Point community. Higher Ground formally began in 1999 when Stu Weber, Senior Pastor of Good Shepherd Community Church, Boring, Oregon, visited USMA to speak to men out of a desire for a regular fellowship where Christian men could meet. He was the catalyst for the ministry now known as Higher Ground. Although Higher Ground is Christian-based, it is open to all men. Higher Ground focuses on encouraging and strengthening men in three key areas – the home, workplace, and community. The mission of Higher Ground is threefold and is based on the following passages found in Hebrews 10:24-25:“And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Higher Ground’s mission is (1) to encourage men to love one another irrespective of socioeconomic, cultural, or racial differences; (2) to produce Christian growth and maturity through ministry, fellowship, and accountability; and (3) to empower men, as men, to serve as Christian leaders in their home, in the workplace, and in their community.
