I envision a parish where all the members: - are well versed and confident in the Word of God (as found in Sacred Scriptures, Catholic Tradition, and the magisterium);
- pray with fervor as families and individuals;
- sing loudly and pray boldly at Mass;
- are recognized by their peers at work and in the world as living distinctively different lives as marked by their morality and holiness, both individually and corporately;
- are maturely motivated by intense missionary enthusiasm which spurs them on to bear witness to Christ;
- encourage others and are themselves open to vocations to priesthood and religious life.
Foundation Stones to My VisionEducation - “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.”
- Priority on adult then teen then youth (classic “CCD”) Religious Ed
- reclaiming the lost generation(s)
- full implementation of Vatican II
- Dice nove, non dice nova. (“Say things in a new way; don’t say new things.”)
Liturgy - “is above all the worship of God”
- “the source and summit of our faith”
- therefore it should be beautiful, dignified, and proper
- avoids minimalist actions and mentalities
Spirituality/Holiness - a genuinely Marian discipleship:
- “Fiat!”
- “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord.”
- “Do whatever He tells you.”
- how to pray - especially how to pray the Mass:
- “Full, conscious, and active participation of the faithful in the liturgy.”
- availability and encouragement of Confession
- popular devotions (especially Eucharistic Adoration and the Rosary)
Evangelization - our parish is healthy when others are drawn to the truth that we live and proclaim
- measures the depth of our own conversion
- speaks explicitly of Jesus as naturally as we mention our earthly friends
Vocations - our parish is healthy when others wish to perpetuate the truth that we live
- active encouragement
- creating opportunities for religious encounters
