Transition Metal Oxides for Remediation
MO(s) + H2S(g) —> MS(s) + H2O(l)
The reaction above suggests that transition metal oxides (TMOs) can be used to remediate sulfur containing compounds in the environment. TMOs will also react with halogens, phosphates, and VOCs. Using in silicio methods to discover the mechanism by which TMOs decompose contaminants and tailoring the TMO to optimize decomposition is of interest.
