CSM Burnett enlisted into the Army in February 1986. He completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonard Wood and was awarded the military occupational specialty of 12B, Combat Engineer.
 
CSM Burnett earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Excelsior College.
 
CSM Burnett’s military education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System, Battle Staff Course, First Sergeants Course, Sergeants Major Course, Airborne School, Drill Sergeant School, Ranger School, Air Assault School, and Jumpmaster School.
 
CSM Burnett has held every leadership position from squad leader to Command Sergeant Major.
