The Bridge Design Contest
The West Point Center for STEM Education is pleased to announce The Bridge Design Contest for High School Students and is happy to announce the first national Middle School Contest.
This year the contest is being run by a non-profit organization called Engineering Encounters. The contest still features the award winning West Point Bridge Designer Software Program and is sponsored by the Army Educational Outreach Program and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
The purpose of the contest is to provide middle school and high school students with a realistic, engaging introduction to engineering. We provide this contest as a service to education.
The contest will provide you the opportunity to:
Learn about engineering through a realistic, hands-on problem-solving experience.
Learn about the engineering design process-the application of math, science, and technology to create devices and systems that meet human needs.
Learn about truss bridges and how they work.
Learn how engineers use the computer as a problem solving-tool.
