Command Sergeant Major Delbert D. Byers

Command Sergeant Major Delbert D. ByersPrior to this assignment, Command Sergeant Major Byers served as the Command Sergeant Major of the 7th Infantry Division at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.

Command Sergeant Major Byers enlisted into the United States Army in June 1982.

His previous assignments include the 82nd Airborne Division, 1st Infantry Division, 1st Battalion 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment , 10th Mountain Division (Light), 197th Infantry Brigade, and 7th Infantry Division. He has four combat tours in the current conflict with one Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom with 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and two tours to Operation Enduring Freedom with the 10th Mountain Division (Light). Command Sergeant Major Byers has completed the following military courses: Basic Airborne; Jumpmaster; Ranger; Pathfinder; Air Assault; Master Fitness Trainer; NBC Defense; Javelin Course; Air load Planners; Infantry Mortar Leaders Course; Rappel Masters Course; Keystone CSEL Course; Force Management Course; PLDC, BNCOC, ANCOC, First Sergeants Course, and is a Class ‘54 graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy. He has also completed over three years of college and is currently working on his Baccalaureate of Science Degree in Data Communications.

Command Sergeant Major Byers’ awards and decorations include: Legion of Merit with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Achievement Medal with four Oak leaf Clusters; Good Conduct Medal (10th award); National Defense Service Medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; IRAQ Campaign Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Humanitarian Service Medal; NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numeral four; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Ranger Tab; Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge; Master Parachutist Badge; Pathfinder Badge; and Air Assault Badge.

Command Sergeant Major Byers is married to Catia and they have two children, Zachary and Gabrielle.
