From 11-13 January, LTC Chris Mayer served as a member of a team that visited Kalamazoo College to determine the progress the college has made in its effort to transform into a more vibrant teaching and learning environment using insights from assessment of student learning. LTC Mayer's service on the team fulfilled one of the requirements of the Teagle Assessment Scholar Development Program of which he is a member of the 2011 cohort. During the visit to Kalamazoo College, team members met with the Provost, Dean of Students, faculty members, and students in order to get a sense of how the college’s culture has changed over three years and to identify what college personnel are doing to improve student learning. The team will provide Kalamazoo College's leadership with a report detailing observations from the visit and recommendations for the future. LTC Mayer’s work with the Teagle Foundation complements his service to the Academy as a member of the Academic Major Assessment Council.
