Hudson Valley Culture Forum

This club is committed to providing exposure to and fostering an appreciation for the culture of New York's Hudson Valley.

Recent Events

  • The Hudson Valley Culture Forum traveled to the Storm King Art Center on 22 October. The Storm King Art Center is now recognized as one of the world's most celebrated sculpture parks. /DEP/PublishingImages/HVCF_1.jpg It is comprised of over 500 acres of pristine fields, hills, streams and woodlands that house more than 100 carefully sited sculptures created by some of the most acclaimed artists of our day. On this trip, the forum participated in the Storm King Art Center scheduled "Autumn Hike on the Moodna Creek Trail". /DEP/PublishingImages/HVCF_2.jpgThis event is a group hike lead by Educator Ron Romary through the woodlands of the Art Center that feature spectacular views of the Storm King and Schunnemunk Mountains in relation to sculptures located on the grounds. Mr. Romary provided commentary on the artistic elements of the works of art, relating considerations for placement of specific sculptures in specific sites to maximize the impact of the work of art by choosing the best location. This trip section will expose cadets to the cultural aspect of art in relation to nature, and present cadets with broader perspectives in how to assess and apply doctrinal theory to terrain.
