Team Training and Competition

New Member Training
First year team shooters are trained in the use of the pistol, rifle, sub-machinegun and shotgun. New shooters start off learning how to individually employ all these weapon systems from a static position and move toward employing them as a member of a team in dynamic scenarios.

Training Staff & Faculty
USMA Staff and Faculty who are deploying overseas frequently seek training from cadets and coaches. Staff and Faculty training focuses on the M4 and M9 weapons systems, and cadets on the team will take time out of their schedule to offer professionally conducted refresher courses especially for those members of the faculty who are leaving the academy for a combat zone.

Specialized/Certification Training

Cadets in the USMACWT have received training from diverse sources. Courses that have produced certificates of training include: NHSP Tactical Room Entries, Patrol Rifle Instructor, Shotgun Instructor, FBI Small Arms Tactical Training Course, Royal Arms International Shotgun Breaching, Less Lethal Training, Special Forces Advanced Urban Combat, Northeast Tactical Schools Weapons Retention, Disarming and Edged Weapons Course, Combat Life Saver Course, Range Safety Officer courses, and others.

Company Training
USMACWT, in accordance with the mission of preparing cadets for modern combat, conducts periodic training with in conjunction with military development staff of selected companies. Currently a limited amount of time due to a lack of authorizations to train during drill and Intramurals prevents us from training the majority of the corps; however, we are working with the USCC staff to attain authos and train a larger percentage of the corps.

Competition
USMACWT proudly participates in both IDPA and IPSC competitions throughout the year, culminating in the Joint Service Academy Combat Weapons Competition in the spring. These competitions serve to hone the skills of team members shooting under pressure while providing an opportunity for interaction with local and national communities.
