The following Instructional Division Objectives were reviewed and approved by the DPE Assessment Committee during AY 2000 - 2001, Term 1. These objectives serve as the initial guide to what the Instructional Division wishes to accomplish.

Outcome:
  1. Acquire the skills, knowledge, and appreciation needed to demonstrate competency in the basic movement skills required for effective military service.
  2. Develop the skills and knowledge to achieve and maintain optimal levels of physical fitness commensurate with the expectations of a military lifestyle.
  3. Acquire Army Master Fitness Trainer (MFT) certification.
  4. Acquire the knowledge and skills that enable participation in a variety of lifetime sport activities.
  5. Foster the development of officership and moral-ethical behavior through participation in activities and leadership roles in physical education classes.
  6. Demonstrate a healthy lifestyle that includes regular participation in physical activity.
  7. Demonstrate physical and mental courage and a competitive spirit while participating in challenging movement tasks.
Process:
  1. Provide cadets with a sequential, progressive series of physical fitness evaluations and assessment strategies that measure individual status and progress for health-related as well as optimal physical fitness.
  2. Provide an effective, positive learning experience for all cadets in all physical education classes.
  3. Provide opportunities for professional development that promotes quality instruction by incorporating the art and science of teaching as well as addressing current educational issues and trends.
  4. Provide the resources and facilities necessary for effective teaching and optimal learning for cadets in all physical education environments.
  5. Provide oversight and guidance for the physical development of all cadets.
