In 2010, Mr. Hess was hired by the Department of Physical Education at USMA as an instructor and athletic trainer. Mr. Hess’ primary role is to provide athletic training services to all cadets enrolled in physical education courses as well as all participants in department sponsored athletic events. Instructional duties currently include: Foundations of Personal Fitness, Strength Development, Military Movement, Cycling, and Snowsports.
Mr. Hess is originally from the Carlisle, PA area. Mr. Hess attended Roanoke College in Salem, VA to major in Athletic Training. Following his undergraduate education, Mr. Hess received his Master of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Health and Human Performance, with a Concentration in Sports Medicine.
During his time at the University of Pittsburgh, Mr. Hess served as the Athletic Trainer for the Women’s Gymnastics Team. Additionally, he provided Athletic Training Services to Pitt Football, Women’s Basketball, and other Olympic Sports.
During 2009-2010 academic year, Mr. Hess served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at New England College in Henniker, NH. There, he also served as an instructor in the Physical Education curriculum teaching Weight Training, Physical Conditioning, and Movement Instruction.
