FORMATION: A formation must occur at the beginning and the end of each swimming class. Cadets may come early and practice skills with an instructor present, but a formation will still start class.

PROFILE: Cadets who are on profile must attend class unless under bed rest restriction. A valid profile must be discussed with the Instructor for proper verification, and a plan established for appropriate makeup work with a pre-established timeline for completion.

ABSENTEE: A cadet will inform the Instructor in advance if he/she will be absent from class and schedule an appropriate makeup time PRIOR to the absence. Any and all requests for trip sections are to be submitted as early as possible for consideration. A sub-performer will not be granted permission to participate in trip sections.

APPOINTMENTS: Cadets will not schedule appointments during class. Any and all appointments are to be scheduled outside the confines of class related activity.

VALUABLES: Cadets will not bring watches, rings or any other valuables to the pool deck. Further, cadets should leave any valuables in their room.

GLASSES: Cadets may wear glasses in the pool as long as the glasses are secured with a strap. No contact lenses are permitted. Goggles are required for PE 109/PE 110 participants, authorized for all other courses (with survival application exception), and available for purchase in the Cadet store.

HAIR: Female cadets must have their hair secured while swimming to prevent visual and/or airway obstruction. Authorized bathing caps (black/white) are available for purchase in the cadet store, and may be used by either male or female cadets.

GRADING PROCEDURES: With the exception of those enrolled in PE113, Cadets are all graded on the same standard. This should motivate the less experienced swimmers to get into the pool on their off hours, in order to get the best possible grade.

SAFETY: No running or horseplay around pool deck area. Take all commands from your Instructor. Assist in the preparation of teaching stations before class and secure equipment following the second hour of the lab each day. Cadets should clearly understand their role as defined within each facility's Emergency Action Plan!

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTION: The Combat Water Survival Swimming Laboratory is reserved for Cadet practice/remediation on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 1930-2100 hours. Other additional instruction hours can be scheduled with your Instructor or by participation during your lab hour. We also encourage you to use your chain of command to assist with AI opportunities.

LOCKER ROOMS:  Cadets will use locker rooms "B" and "C" (day use lockers), located in the lower level of Crandall Pool. Do not put locks on the lockers - police up your gear each day.

CLASS TIMES: 45 Minutes in length (including upper class cadets)
