Biography

Travis Harvey, Ph.D., CSCS, is a faculty researcher in the Center for Physical Development Excellence and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education at the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY.  Dr. Harvey completed his doctoral work at the Baylor University Exercise Biochemistry and Sport Nutrition Laboratory focusing on obesity and nutritional supplementation and inflammatory processes associated with exercise immune function.  Dr. Harvey has also served as strength and conditioning coach for the men’s high school basketball team and fitness/wellness coordinator for the police department of West Plains, Missouri.

 

Dr. Harvey’s current research focuses on musculoskeletal and neuromuscular function aspects of physical development and immune response as it relates to nutritive implications for recovery and adaptation to physical activity.  As a faculty member in the Department of Physical Education, Dr. Harvey teaches Performance Nutrition and Exercise Prescription in the Kinesiology major and Fundamentals of Fitness for plebes.
