Biography                                               

Ralph Pim is an associate professor and director of competitive sports in the Department of Physical Education at the United States Military Academy at West Point.  He served as the Fitness Leader I course director from 2001 to 2005.

Prior to his arrival at West Point in 2000, Pim served as chairperson of the physical education department at Limestone College (SC). He also was the head men's basketball coach and the associate athletic director. 

Pim coached basketball at the secondary and collegiate levels for over twenty-five years.  As a collegiate head coach, Pim built Alma College (MI) and Limestone College (SC) into highly successful programs.  His Alma teams were ranked nationally for points scored and three-point field goals, and the 1989 squad recorded the school’s best overall record in forty-seven years.  At Limestone, Pim directed the Saints to the NAIA regional tournament. He also coached at Central Michigan University, The College of William and Mary, Northwestern State University of Louisiana, and Barberton (OH) High School.  Barberton won the 1976 Ohio State Championship and was selected the seventh best team in the country. 

Pim spent ten years as the technical advisor for the Basketball Association of Wales.  He implemented training programs to facilitate the development of basketball throughout the country of Wales.  He also assisted with the training of their national teams at the Olympic Training Center in Cardiff, Wales.

Pim has authored six books on basketball and written numerous coaching articles.  He presented at the 2005 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement and at the NCAA Division I Final Four in 2004 and 2005.

Pim is a graduate of Springfield College.  He earned his master’s degree from Ohio State University and his doctorate from Northwestern Louisiana State University.  Pim is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society.  He serves on the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Champions of Character national committee.  At West Point, he received the BG James L. Anderson Award for excellence in teaching in 2005.
