THE SELECTED ATHLETE PROGRAM
(SAP) APFT
1. The SAP APFT consists of push-ups (2
minutes), sit-ups (2 minutes), and a 2-mile run (2MR), no different from the
standard Army APFT. However, 2MR performance scales have been adjusted.
2. The test events are performed in the
following sequence: push-ups, sit-ups, 2MR.
3. The test must be completed within one hour
after beginning the initial test event.
A minimum rest period of 10 minutes must separate test events.
4. After extensive
scientific research, the 2MR scale has been adjusted for SAP athletes. Based up an athlete’s weight and 2MR results,
the points awarded for the run event will be adjusted accordingly, both for men
and women.
5. Cadets will be weighed by prior to executing
the APFT and the weight is recorded on the APFT scorecard. First Class Cadets will be weighted by a DPE
Instructor, while the under three classes are weighed by those administering
the test.
6. How a SAP athlete’s score
is computed and inputted into the cadet record system is provided in the “SAP
APFT Input Example” document.
7. Any questions on this
topic can be referred to the DPE Testing Office at phone #: 938-0206/5047/2543.
