CPT Karl Olson is an Engineer Officer and Functional Area 24. He was commissioned as a 2LT from the United States Military Academy in 2004 before graduating from the Engineer Officer Basic Course, Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He has served as a platoon leader, executive officer, Aide-de-camp and ECCC instructor in a variety of units before changing career fields to a Functional Area 24- network engineer. He has served in two combat tours in Iraq serving as both the aide to the theater engineer commander and as the senior network engineer for southern Iraq. CPT Olson is a graduate of the both the FA24 course and Engineer Captains Career Course. His academic interests include networking/ computer security and plasma propulsion systems.
