COL Ransbottom is a Cyberspace Engineer and member of the Army Signal Corps. He currently serves as the Acting Computer Science Program Director. His military assignments include Chief of Operations, and Chief of Policy, Programs and Projects, G6, US Army Central Command (forward). He was the Information Assurance Program Manager for Army Communications throughout the US Central Command Area of Operations from 2007-2008. He commanded two tactical, theater signal companies in Europe and has served on staff at several levels. At West Point he has served as the Acting Deputy Department Head for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the Director, G5 (Policy, Strategic Planning and Assessments), the Secretary of the General Staff where he was also the designated federal officer for the Board of Visitors. COL Ransbottom is a Senior Service college selectee and graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College. His research interests include mobile computing, networking and the hardware-software intersection. He is member of the ACM and a senior member of the IEEE.
