Major Mark E. DeYoung enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1996 as a Scientific Analysis Technician. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was assigned to the Air Force Technical Applications Center for seven years. He was commissioned on 19 September 2003 from Officer Training School and is a graduate of Basic Communications Officer Training, Undergraduate Network Warfare Trainining, Squadron Officer School, and Cyber 200. Maj DeYoung's previous assignments include: Information Systems Flight Commander, and Plans and Implementation Officer 71st Communications Squadron, Vance Air Force Base, OK; Mission Systems Flight Commander, Network Operations Flight Commander, and Director of Operations 690th Intelligence Support Squadron, Lackland Air Force Base, Joint Base San Antonio, TX; Executive Officer, and Chief of Standards and Evaluations 690th Network Support Group, Lackland Air Force Base, Joint Base San Antonio, TX. His academic interests include cyber operations and software engineering.
