MAJ Syers enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1989 as a Personnel Specialist. He entered the ROTC Simultaneous Membership Program in 1997 and was commissioned into the Aviation branch in 1999. MAJ Syers later single-tracked into the Telecommunication System Engineering career field. His military assignments include Platoon Leader, B Company, 2-4 Aviation Regiment; Brigade Operations Officer, Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division; Assistant Division G3 Air, 4th Infantry Division; Company Commander, E Company, 1-58 Aviation Regiment (Air Traffic Services); Rear Detachment Commander, 3-10 Aviation Regiment. MAJ Syers is a graduate of the Aviation Captain's Career Course, the Aviation Officer Basic Course, the Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course, the UH-60 Advanced Qualification Course, and Airborne School. His academic interests include computer security and forensics.
