MAJ Janice Blane was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 2005 upon graduation from the United States Military Academy with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. She served as the Assault Helicopter Company Executive Officer and Platoon Leader in Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 82nd Aviation Regiment (AHB). Afterwards, she was assigned as the Assistant S-3 in 1st Battalion, 82nd Aviation Regiment (ARB) and then as a CJ3 Aviation Assistant Operation Officer in HHC, 82nd Airborne Division. Her last operational duty position was as the Company Commander of Foxtrot Company, 3rd Battalion, 82nd Aviation Regiment (GSAB), a Air Traffic Control company. She deployed with the 82nd Airborne Division in support of Operation Enduring Freedom VIII, X, and XI-XII. MAJ Blane is a graduate from the Aviation Officer Basic Course, the Aviation Captain's Career Course, UH-60L/M Qualification Course, and Airborne School. Her academic interests include semiconductor lasers, optoelectronics, and photonics.
