MAJ Morrell was commissioned as a Signal Officer from the United States Military Academy in 2000, and has since been reassigned as an Information Systems Management Officer. His previous assignments include Battalion Signal Officer, 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, Fort Richardson, AK; Node Center Platoon Leader, 21st Signal Company, 172nd Arctic Infantry Brigade (Separate), Fort Richardson, AK; Signal Detachment Commander, 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Lewis, WA; Battalion Signal Officer, 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Lewis, WA. While assigned to the 1st Special Forces Group, MAJ Morrell served a rotation supporting Operation Enduring Freedom - Afghanistan under the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force - Afghanistan. MAJ Morrell is a graduate of the Combined Arms and Service Staff School, Signal Captain's Career Course and Basic Course, Jumpmaster School and Airborne School. MAJ Morrell holds a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from USMA (2000), and a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2008). He has also earned certification as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and as a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). His academic interests include network optimization and management and mobile device software development.
