|Andrea Shaut |
Since graduating from Ithaca College in 2004 with a degree in music performance, pianist Andrea Shaut has become a prominent musician in the Hudson Valley music scene. Andrea’s first love is working as a collaborative artist and accompanist. Outside of the West Point Glee Club, she also accompanies the Mid-Hudson Women’s Chorus and regularly performs with professional and student musicians for recitals, competitions, and recordings. She has been the musical director and organist at The Reformed Church of the Comforter for the past 8 years, and maintains a private music studio of 30 students – of all ages and levels.
In 2009, Andrea and her husband formed a wedding/special event band, “The Kazz Music Orchestra,” based in the Hudson Valley/New York City areas. Recently, the band won the “2012 Wedding Wire Bride’s Choice Award,” which ranks the band in the top 5% in the nation. Andrea also plays trombone in “Swingin’ Jive Patrol.” SJP is a (mostly family) 10-piece little big band that hosts and plays at an annual fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Association, raising over $22,000 in 5 years. Andrea’s newest group, The Shaut Three-O, is a unique twist of a chamber ensemble; it features Andrea on piano and trombone, and her brother and father on saxophones. Other past performance experiences for Andrea have included being the accompanist for the Hudson Valley Youth Chorale, with which she toured Europe with twice, many musicals throughout New York State, and frequent solo piano recitals. Other notable performances have included playing with the NYC Salsa/Latin Jazz Band “Los Bandidos”, Motown/R&B/Soul Band “Groove Buffet” at the legendary B.B. King’s Blues Club in Times Square and playing in Aruba with the Ageless Jazz Band. Keep up with Andrea on her website at www.andreashaut.com.
