Mr. John E. Fahey was born in Bad Cannstatt, Germany and graduated from Brigham Young University in 2007 studying history.  He commissioned through BYU’s ROTC into the National Guard, serving as a Military Intelligence officer in units in Utah, Pennsylvania, and Indiana.  He earned a MA Degree in European History from George Mason University in 2010.  He then started his PhD program at Purdue University in Modern European History.  He deployed to Afghanistan (OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM) as a Intel Planner for the 3rd Infantry Division’s CJ35 section (2012-2013).  He studied Polish language and culture at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland thanks to a grant from the Kosciuszko Foundation in 2014-2015.  He then conducted archival research at the Kriegsarchiv in Vienna, Austria thanks to a Global Synergy Grant from Purdue University’s College of Liberal Arts.  He received a research grant from the Fulbright committee to conduct research in Przemyśl, Poland (2015-2016) and currently serves as an instructor in the USMA history department.
