​Stephanie Hinnershitz specializes in twentieth-century American history with an emphasis in social, immigration, and ethnic history. Dr. Hinnershitz is currently an assistant professor in the Department of History at Cleveland State University and is on leave for the 2017-2018 year to teach at West Point and develop online modules in race and ethnicity for HI 105. She received her PhD from the University of Maryland in 2013 and previously taught at Valdosta State University in Georgia from 2013 to 2016. Dr. Hinnershitz has also been a fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies, the Social Science Research Council, the Library of Congress, the Baker-Nord Center for Humanities at Case Western University, the Charles E. Young Research Library at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the Kautz Family YMCA Archives at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Dr. Hinnershitz also teaches citizenship classes in Cleveland and assists nonprofit immigrant aid organizations.
