CPT Nathan R. Clason was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Pensacola Christian College with a BA in 2001.  He enlisted as a Vietnamese linguist in 2002 and worked for the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command from 2003-2006 before earning a Green to Gold Commission at the University of Hawaii in 2008 and an MA at Hawaii Pacific University. He served as an S2 and assistant brigade S2 at 1/10 MTN from 2008-2011 and as a brigade S2X and battalion S2 at 4/4 ID from 2013-2015.  He has deployed twice to Afghanistan: first to Regional Command North in 2010 and then to Regional Command South in 2014.  Upon redeploying in 2014 he entered graduate school at Michigan State University, and earned an MA in Southeast Asian History in 2017.  He moved to West Point to teach in the Department of History in 2017, and now teaches East Asian History and enjoys spending time with his wife and eight children who live in nearby New Windsor.
