MAJ Andy Forney is an Assistant Professor in the American History Division.  He received his commission as an Armor officer through ROTC at Western Maryland College in 2002.  Upon graduation, he served as a tank platoon leader, tank company executive officer, and HHC executive officer in the 1st Battalion of the 8th Cavalry Regiment, deploying with the unit in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM from March 2004 to April 2005.  Following the Armor Captains Career Course, MAJ Forney served as an operations and intelligence mentor to the Afghan National Police in Farah, Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. Upon his return, MAJ Forney took command of H Troop, 5th Squadron of the 15th Cavalry Regiment, a scout Advanced Individual Training (AIT) troop. After command, MAJ Forney studied American History at Texas Christian University (TCU), earning his Master’s Degree there in 2010. MAJ Forney is currently working to complete his dissertation at TCU.
