MAJ Kyle J. Hatzinger graduated from the United States Military Academy, in 2006. Following graduation, he completed IBOLC and Ranger School at Fort Benning, GA. His first operational assignment was as a platoon leader in C Company, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (AASLT), Fort Campbell, KY, an assignment that included a deployment to Baghdad, Iraq in 2008 as part of the Surge. MAJ Hatzinger completed the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course at Fort Knox, KY. After MCCC, he was assigned to Fort Hood TX where he first served as a brigade planner. He commanded D Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division and subsequently deployed to Tikrit, Iraq in 2011. Following company command, he entered graduate school at the University of North Texas, earned an MA in Military History, and returned to West Point to teach in the Department of History.
