CPT Nicholas Browning was born in Hamilton, Ohio and joined the Army in 2001. Following high school he enlisted in the Army Reserve as a Psychological Operations Specialist and deployed to Iraq in March, 2003. After returning home he joined the ROTC program at the University of Cincinnati and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of Field Artillery in 2007. Since then, he has deployed to Afghanistan three times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (2008-2010, 2011, 2013-2014) and held assignments as a Company Fire Support Officer (D/1-32 Infantry, 3BCT, Fort Drum, NY), Battalion Fire Support Officer (1-506 Infantry, 4BCT, Fort Campbell, KY), HHC Brigade Commander (506 Infantry), and Firing Battery Commander (A/4-320 Field Artillery, 4BCT, Fort Campbell, KY). After command, he earned his MA in American History from Texas Christian University and joined the Department of History at West Point.
