West Point Environmental Aspects
Section 4 — West Point Environmental Aspects
4.1. Analyzing and Prioritizing Environmental Aspects
The initial analysis necessary to develop the West Point Garrison EMS involves identifying the environmental aspects of the organization’s activities, products, and services. The result of this analysis is the West Point Prioritized Aspects Table (analysis), a summary table including: 1) The list of West Point Garrison activities, products and services; 2) The Environmental Aspects associated with those activities, products and services; and 3) The ranking or prioritizing of the West Point Garrison Environmental Aspects. This process began with a detailed review of the West Point environmental programs and documents and was followed by a data call to the West Point Environmental Compliance Officers (ECO’s) on the environmental aspects associated with the ECO’s individual work activities.
4.2. Legal and Other Requirements
In order to set objectives and targets that accurately reflect the legal requirements at West Point, the legal requirements associated with each aspect must be identified and understood. A list of the applicable Federal, State, and local requirements was compiled, and includes relevant DoD and Department of the Army regulations.
4.3. Objectives and Targets
The objectives and targets were then set and consider the potential impacts, applicable regulatory requirements, as well as the operational constraints, costs, operational goals, and the commitments delineated in the West Point Environmental Policy. |
