Department of Law : Ron Salvatore Lecture Series

The Ron A. Salvatore Law and Legal Studies Lecture Series

Mr. Ron Salvatore retired from the United States Military Academy as Academy Counsel and Special Assistant to the Staff Judge Advocate. A graduate of Gannon College and Catholic University's Columbus School of Law, he served over nine years on active duty in the Army JAG Corps. He remained a member of the Army Reserves until 1977, when he retired as a Colonel with thirty years of service. Mr. Salvatore began serving as a civilian attorney for the Academy in 1977.

Thanks to Mr. Salvatore's generous contributions, the Department of Law established a lecture series designed to expose Cadets to the insights and perspectives of leading legal figures. Each semester, the Department invites a leading scholar, jurist, senior government official or military officer to present a lecture to Cadets majoring in law. The fall lecture is named after MG (R) Michael J. Nardotti Jr. - USMA class of 1969 and former Judge Advocate General of the Army.  The spring lecture is named after Mr. Salvatore.  Previous lecturers include, among others: Harvard Law School Dean Martha Minow, New York City District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Yale Law Professor John Witt, Judge Advocate General Lieutenant General Flora Darpino, attorney Floyd Abrams, former mayor of New York City Rudolph Giuliani, former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Warren Burger, and Columbia University President Lee Bollinger.
