2013 Recyclemania Update: Week 5
WEST POINT, N.Y. (March 20, 2013) — The Week 5 results are in and how did the Corps of Cadets fare following spring break?
The results show an improvement since Week 3 as the cadets went up one notch and is currently ranked sixth in the Per Capita Classic category for the annual national collegiate Recyclemania tournament. They're averaginng about a half-pound per capital less than Boston College and about 5 pounds less than the top-ranked California State University-San Marcos.
The U.S. Military Academy has maintained its 12th place ranking out of 246 participating in the Paper category and remains 2nd in Corrugated Cardboard. In the Bottles and Cans category, the cadets rose four spots to rank 20th out of 244 competing school. In the Gorilla category, West Point is ranked a respectable 64th out of 346 participating schools. Overall, the U.S. Military Academy is ranked 235th out of 263 schools for the Grand Champion.
Recyclemania is a friendly competition to promote the recycling programs at colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada, while promoting recycling waste reduction activities to their campus communities.
