West Point Judo dominates Navy

West Point Judo Team

The West Point Judo team traveled to Drexel University Dec. 7 to compete in the Collegiate Team Tournament which features Army and Navy athletes before the annual Army-Navy Football Game Dec. 8.

For this event, the cadets were represented by two teams. Team Gold was comprised of Class of 2013 Cadets Larisa Tudor, John Barnes, Joe McKenna, Aaron Jacobson, Carson Reed and Class of 2014 Cadet Steven Patten. Team Black was comprised of Class of 2013 Cadet Katherine Donohoe, Class of 2014 Cadets Carson Giammaria, Joel Puritz, Pat Diehl, Richard Mendoza and Class of 2016 Cadet Pat Hogan.

Both cadet teams went undefeated and collectively won 46 out of 50 matches against two teams from Drexel, two from Navy and one from the University of Pennsylvania. The cadets displayed tremendous tenacity and great performance, winning most of the matches by Ippon, losing only two and ending with two tied matches.

In head-to-head competition versus Navy, the team won 18 out of the 20 matches with one tie and one loss.
