Our Mission:
In a world increasingly characterized by connections, the West Point Network Science Center leverages diverse expertise from across the United States Military Academy’s academic departments and the greater Network Science community toward multi-disciplinary research efforts that explain and predict the behaviors of complex systems by studying the networks that represent them.
We Investigate: Our expertise in data, information, and network science enables us to provide insight into challenging issues and to solve a wide variety of problems. Our solutions impact all levels of Army decision making in policy and operations. Our history of proven results and our wide network of contacts enables us to reveal solutions of problems “over the horizon” and provide insight into future progress in military modernization.
We Educate: Through oversight of the USMA Network Science minor and educational initiatives in primary and secondary schools across the United States, we contribute to growing the body of future leaders that use Network Science thinking tools, modeling, and methods to understand our multi-disciplinary, connected world. Our participation as an active member of the national and global network science communities provides access to innovations in our field, enabling education for Network Scientists at all stages of their careers.
We Develop: The West Point Network Science Center exists to support the development of cadets and faculty for careers of professional excellence and service to the Nation as officers in the United States Army and leaders in their profession. Network skills enhance the capabilities of leaders and form the foundation of network applications in cyber, modern warfare, counter terrorism, and system design.
