2LT Joshua Lospinoso
is a Rhodes Scholar and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow who is beginning his doctoral studies in Statistics at Oxford University this fall. 2LT Lospinoso received a B.S. with honors in both Economics and Operations Research from the United States Military Academy. Throughout his career at West Point, 2LT Lospinoso served as a teaching assistant for the freshman Social Network Analysis course, the Social Network Club Founder and President, editor for the Undergraduate Journal of Social Science. He has published over a dozen journal articles, conference proceedings, and technical reports related to network science, economics, and operations research. He won the Office of the Secretary of Defense Network Science Excellence Award three years in a row (2007—2009) for his body of research in command and control and statistical methods for social network analysis. Currently, 2LT Lospinoso is working directly with the Network Science Center on developing the Frontier Market Model. His other research interests include actor oriented socioeconomic networks, agricultural networks, financial risk networks, simulation, and organizational studies.
