COL Steven Horton, Ph.D.
serves as Professor and Deputy Head of the Math Department at West Point. COL Horton received a B.S. from the United States Military Academy, a M.S. in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, a M.S. in Operations Research and Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research interests include graph theory, combinatorial optimization, and analysis of algorithms. Before joining the USMA faculty in 1991, COL Horton served as an engineer platoon leader in the 92nd Engineer Battalion at Fort Stewart, Georgia, Deputy Director of Engineering and Housing at the United States Army Field Station in Sinop, Turkey, and Assistant Operations Officer, Battalion Adjutant, and Company Commander in the 4th Engineer Battalion at Fort Carson, Colorado. COL Horton is currently working on the Network Structure Model for the Network Science Center at West Point.
