From 16-18 February 2013, twenty-five cadets and an officer representative from the West Point Parachute Team conducted wind tunnel training in Nashua, NH. During the three day period, the Team utilized seven and a half hours of freefall time. To read more click here.
|2012 USPA National Collegiate Parachuting Championships||12/28/2012|

In addition to performing numerous skydiving demonstrations during the year, from jumping the game ball into Michie Stadium for a football game to executing an astonishing stack in the sky with colorful smoke and flags following a parade, the West Point Parachute Team has continued to train hard during the winter season. This year, four members of the team from each class were selected to compete in the United States Parachute Association (USPA) National Collegiate Parachuting Championships held at Skydive Arizona in Eloy. Overall, the team completed 697 jumps without injury or malfunction, and brought home 13 medals in addition to setting several USPA National and Arizona State Records. To read more click here.

From 22 December 2012 – 03 January 2013, 12 cadets and three coaches participated in Winter Training and Collegiate Nationals in Eloy, AZ. The team competed in Classic and Sport Accuracy against Air Force and other colleges, winning a total of 13 medals and setting 3 National and Arizona State Records. To read more click here.

From 21-25 November 2012, five cadets and three coaches from the West Point Parachute Team conducted student training in Marana, AZ. The training opportunity was the result of a gracious offer from the USAFA Parachute Team “Wings of Blue,” and all training occurred using their aircraft and ground crew. To read more click here.
Skydiving Team Welcomes New Members
The newest members of the West Point Parachute have been selected. These members endured an intensive tryout system which narrowed a large pool of candidates down to the current ten. We welcome to the family: Kristopher M Korzan, Travis T Holihan, Trent W Michels, Mitxel B Totorica, Casey R Childers, Barry D Ball, Sara L Vagie, Amy M Saxton, Catherine L Fuller, and Granath E Musson.

Cadets Bring Home a Total of 12 Medals
The Parachute Team trains year round towards the goal of perfecting their precision accuracy and flying abilities for competition. Over Christmas Leave the team put these abilities to the test, competing in the United States Parachute Association (USPA) National Collegiate Parachuting Championships held at Skydive Arizona. Competing against fellow skydivers from schools all across the nation, including the Air Force and Naval Academies, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and the University of Connecticut among others, the cadets brought home a total of 12 medals and set a number of USPA National and Arizona State Records. Sergeant Major Enjoys his Time in the Sky
Sergeant Major Burnett, USCC, was allowed to jump with the team and do his first tandem skydive from approximately 10,000 ft. The team enjoys spreading the love of skydiving with people across West Point and regularly performs tandem dives, to include former Commandant BG Rapp and many others.

Training Hard to get Back on Track
After a long hold on training, the Black Knights are now back in the air and training hard to get ready to compete in Arizona for the Collegiate National Championship, where they intend to dominate the competition like they did last year. Training includes not only jumping everyday onto "The Plain" or the parade field of West Point, but also Wind Tunnel trips.

Parachute Team Jumps, Trains with French Foreign Legion (p. 6)
West Point Parachute Team, with the support of VMGR-452, the "Yankees"-a US Marine Corps KC-130 squadron based at Stewart Air National Guard Base in NY-travelled to Camp Raffalli, located next to the coastal town of Calvi, Corsica (France) to conduct spring training with their hosts, the 2nd Foreign Airborne Regiment. Training was safe, intense and effective with over 700 jumps made with no off-DZ landings, no reserve rides and no injuries.

West Point Parachute Team Brings Home 21 Medals
The West Point Parachute Team conducted training for and competed in Collegiate National at Skydive Arizona located in Eloy, AZ. Training occurred from 19 – 28 December and the competition was from 29 December 2010 to 1 January 2011. Overall, the trip was a success with the team safely executing over 1,160 jumps and performing admirably in the competition winning 21 medals (13 Gold, 5 Silver & 3 Bronze). Additionally, Kurt Yeager (2013) was named Most Competitive Collegiate Competitor for his stellar performance and exemplary sportsmanship during the meet.
