PMO Honor Flag Service
The
PMO provides the Honor Flag Service to fly US Flags flown in honor of
service members, retirees, memorials, and other
important events.
Flags are generally flown for any
individual who requests it, although most often, they are flown for
those who served at, retired from, or graduated from West Point; or
upon special request by the family members or respective agencies that
the individual was/is associated with.
Directorates, activities, or other individuals
desiring a flag to be flown must bring thier own flag and
documentation. The PMO
does not supply flags.
The documentation should relate to the
member's service or class affiliation at West
Point, and must have
no more than 50 words of text to be used on the certificate.
A sample certificate (which can be used to actually set up the
certificate, and e-mailed to the PMO)
is available at this URL: Flag Certificate.
(Netscape users may want to either right-click to save this document on
their local drive, or copy this URL to their "Location" bar.)

Note: The PMO
reserves the discretionary right to edit submitted text for grammar or
clarity. The flag should be at least 3 feet wide by 5 feet long, and no
bigger than 9 feet wide by 17 feet long, and be made of such durable
material as heavyweight Nylon or cotton blend fabric.
Allow at least 5 - 7 business
days for local requests (West Point area) and 2 - 3 weeks for locations outside of West Point.
Outside agencies within the Department of
Defense or other government agencies may request an Honor Flag to be
flown for an individual if they pay for the return shipping cost.
There is no exception to this. These services are available through the
main couriers such as Federal Express (FedEx), UPS, DHL, EMS, and the US Postal Service.
