How to respond to a Citation/Ticket...
If you have received a United States District Court Violation Notice
(DD Form 1805), and wish to pay the fine follow these steps:
1. Read all the instructions on the reverse side of the citation.
2. Do not send cash in the mail. Send a check or money order, within
7 days of receiving the citation, for the fine specified. Ensure that
you write the citation number and location code (which appear at the
top of the citation) and make it payable to CLERK,
U.S. DISTRICT
COURT.
3. The citation is an envelope; enclose the fine and send it to:

Can I contest a citation?
If the officer has written on the face of the citation a date and place
for a court hearing, you may appear there to contest the charge(s)
against you. If no court appearance date is shown you will be notified
of your appearance date by mail if the fine is not paid.
What happens if I do not pay the fine or show at court:
If you do not pay the fine amount and if you fail to appear in court at
the time scheduled, the United States District Court may issue a
summons ordering your appearance or issue an arrest warrant. If you are
charged with a motor vehicle violation, the court may also report your
non-compliance to the Department of Motor Vehicles of your state, which
may affect the renewal of your driving privileges. Furthermore, the
court may increase your fine or impose additional penalties. Any fine
or collateral assessed is paid directly into the U.S. Treasury.
