Captain John Davis is a 3rd year instructor in the Core Physics Program with the Department of Physics and Nuclear Engineering. His is currently the course director for PH205 (Physics I).  He graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Engineering, and earned his Master’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2015. After receiving his commission from West Point in 2007 he was assigned to Fort Lewis, Washington and served as a Sapper Platoon Leader in the 5th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (SBCT). He deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom (Kandahar, Afghanistan) in July 2009. He served as the Company Executive Officer for the last 6 months of deployment and redeployed to Fort Lewis in July 2010. Captain Davis attended the Engineer Captain’s Career Course from October 2010 to April 2011. Upon graduating, he was assigned to the 2d Engineer Battalion at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. He assumed command of the 40th Mobility Augmentation Company (MAC) in April 2012. The company deployed separate from the battalion in January 2013. Under Captain Davis’ command, the company conducted mounted and dismounted route clearance operations in Ghazni, Afghanistan.
