Drexel outswims Army for 136-107 victory

Senior Heidi Borden captured six events and swam legs on four winning relays as the Army women dominated the two-day USMA Swimming and Diving Invitational at Crandall Pool over the weekend.
The Black Knights captured all six events the opening day for a 252 composite, then added 88 points in winning 10 of 14 events the final day for a 340 composite. They out scored runner up Seton Halls 199 followed by Fordham (197) and St. Johns (185).
Borden, one of four Black Knights named to the all-invitational team, had a hand in four of Armys six wins the first day. She won the 200 IM (2:11.64) and 50 free (24.49) along with swimming anchor on the opening 200 free relay (1:40.62) and the second leg on the 400 medley relay (4:02.97).
Saturday, Borden was first in four events winning the 100 (54.04) and 200 (1:58.32) along with the 100 (1:08.08) and 200 breast (2:27.64). She swam anchor on the 200 medley relay (1:52.01) and the second leg on the 800 free relay (8:02.41) to top the field with 54 points.
Freshman Garrett Shannon doubled both days to finish second on the all-invitational team with 43 points. In Fridays session, she was first in the 500 free (5:08.32) and 1650 free (17:36.71). Saturday she won the 400 individual medley (4:40.61) and 200 fly (2:10.81).
Also named to the all-invitational squad were sophomore Stacey Kalota and junior Tricia LeRoux. Kalota won twice in the backstroke the final day, capturing the shorter 100 in 1:00.03 and the longer 200 in 2:06.52. She also swam legs on all four winning relays to include the leadoff leg on the 200 medley, 400 medley and 800 free relay and the third leg on the 200 free relay.
