Pennsylvania posted straight-set victories in all six singles matches and notched pro-set wins in the three doubles events as the Quakers defeated Army 7-0 in womens tennis action Saturday afternoon.
Pennsylvania did not yield a single set as five Quakers had a hand in two wins each. Nicole Ptak set the pace for Pennsylvania, posting a 6-0, 6-2 win over senior Annie Weber at No. 1 singles after teaming with Jolene Sloat for an 8-3 defeat of Weber and freshman Kari Munger at No. 3 doubles.
Other double-winners for the Quakers included Shubha Srinivasan, Lovani Bascara, Rachele Shweky and Sloat. Srinivasan registered a 6-2, 6-1 win over Army senior Cheryl Hamilton at No. 2 singles. She began her day by pairing with Bascara for a solid 8-1 victory over junior Ali Rohr and freshman Melanie Bundoc at No. 2 doubles.
Armys best chance for a victory came at No. 1 doubles, where senior Annie Collier and Hamilton suffered a hard fought 9-7 loss to the Penn tandem of Shweky and Konovac.
The setback dropped the Black Knights to 4-7 on the year.
