Contemporary Affairs Seminar cadets travel to Atlanta
Submitted by Contemporary Affairs Seminar
The Contemporary Affairs Seminar cadets embarked on a mission to serve the community Oct. 3 when they traveled to Atlanta to encourage students to further their education. Under the leadership of Capt. Jeff Simpson from the Directorate of Admissions, Cadet 2nd Class Mary Tobin, Cadet 3rd Class Bridgette Bell and 11 other cadets, with the help of Quinton Martin (USMA ‘78), Vice-President of Community Marketing with the Coca-Cola Company, participated in Hands-on-Atlanta, the biggest single-day community service project in the nation. The cadets visited various schools in the Atlanta area and were received admirably by staff and faculty alike.
They stimulated the students as they discussed cadet life, furthering one’s education and serving the nation. The cadets also had the opportunity to speak to students at Grady High School’s annual JROTC Jamboree which included schools from across the Atlanta school district.
The cadets were treated to dinner with other USMA graduates in the Atlanta area which gave them an opportunity to learn more about the "Old Corps" and life after graduation.
