Arts and Crafts Fair cancelled
The West Point Women’s Club Arts and Crafts Fair scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at O’Neill High School has been cancelled.

Tickets on sale for Christmas show
ITR has limited seating tickets for two remaining performances for the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular.

The shows are Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. (bus departs West Point at 1 p.m.) and Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. (bus departs West Point at 4 p.m.)

BSF pavilion open weekends
Buffalo Soldier Pavilion will be open every weekend on a trial basis with a full service bar starting tonight. Friday openings are at 4:30 p.m.; Saturday openings are at 6 p.m.

AFTB Classes announced
The next set of Army Family Team Building Level 1 classes are Monday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the IVC, bldg. 2104. Jazzercise classes

Macy’s Thanksgiving parade
ITR will sponsor a trip to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade Nov. 22. The bus leaves at 6 a.m. and will return after the parade. Register now at the ITR office in bldg. 695.

Music teacher’s recital slated
The Hudson-Catskill District of the New York State Music Teacher’s Association will present a Music Teachers’ Recital Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Central Valley Methodist Church. Rake leaves to the curb placing them as close to curb as possible but not in the street or storm drains. Leaves can also be bagged in the biodegradable bags available at Self Help (not black or green bags).

No rocks, sticks or paper should be mixed into leaves. Sticks (branches) should be cut into 5’ lengths and bundled and tied with string. Bundles sticks should be placed at your trash collection point.

Ensure nothing blocks the truck’s access. Don’t park your car or allow children’s toys on the leaves.

There is no need to call DHPW. Leaves will be picked up as soon as time and resources allow.

Tribute to Veterans
The USMA Jazz Knights will present a concert in honor of all veterans Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. in the Eisenhower Hall Ballroom. The concert is free and open to the public. This performance will include a variety of big-band arrangements and patriotic classics.

Currently there is a 100 percent vehicle and photo ID check at the academy gates. Due to changing security requirements at West Point, it is suggested that those interested in attending contact the band’s hotline at (845)-938-2617 before leaving for the concert.

Sol Feinstone lecture announced
Dr. Harm de Blij will be the 29th Annual Sol Feinstone Lecture Series speaker when he addresses "The Meaning of Freedom" Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. in Robinson Auditorium.

The former professor has published more than 30 books and more than 100 articles and taught at Georgetown and Marshall Universities, the Colorado School of Mines, the University of Miami and Michigan State. He was also the geography editor on ABC’s "Good Morning America" for seven years and joined NBC News in 1996 as the geography analyst. His geography series, "The Power of Place" aired on PBS for several years.

The lecture is made possible by an endowment from Dr. Sol Feinstone to help young men and women become more aware of the American heritage of freedom. The lecture is free and open to the public. Attendees should be seated by 7:30 p.m.

La Leche League to meet
The Highland Falls La Leche League will meet Thursday, 6:45 p.m. at the Post Chapel offices in bldg. 692. The topic will be "Breast-feeding: Questions Mothers Ask." All women interested are invited. Babies and toddlers also welcome. Call Marie at 446-2766 for more information.

Registration is underway for the spring semester for students in the Master’s of Public Administration program offered by John Jay College at West Point.

Employment briefing for spouses
The Army Community Service Employment Readiness Program will offer a briefing for military spouses that will allow them to find out about area employers, potential employment opportunities and application procedures while meeting key human resource representatives.
