Senior Will Wyche is shown out in front of the pack against Navy Oct. 12.

Senior Will Wyche became just the fourth runner in Patriot League Championship history to repeat as individual champion, leading Army to its second consecutive team title. Wyche used a formidable kick to drive past two challengers and defend his crown with a time of 25:08.6.

Wyche executed the difficult double, but not before fending off late pressure from Lehigh’s Alex L’Heureux. Lehigh’s junior standout matched Wyche stride-for-stride as the two battled down the final straightaway. In the end, Wyche would best his Patriot League foe with L’Heureux crossing the finish line less than one second back (25:09.3).

Senior Clint Tisserand made a late charge to out-kick several other competitors, finishing the race third overall in 25:14.8.

Rounding out the top finishers for Army’s attack, sophomore Andres Evey finished eighth (25:31.7), senior Mike Baskin finished 10th (25:41.5) and junior Eric Motzenbecker crossed the line 14th overall (26:03.2). Wyche, Tisserand, Evey and Baskin were named to the All-Patriot League team following their performances.

Army tallied just 38 points, while runner up Bucknell finished 18 points back at 54. Taking third-place in the team standings was American, who used two All-Patriot League performances to close with 62 points.

After the meet, head coach Jerry Quiller was named Patriot League "Men’s Coach of the Year." It was the fifteenth time that Quiller earned coaching honors while it also marked the second year in a row that Quiller was named men’s Coach of the Year in cross country.
