Sophomore running back C.J. Young rushes against Boston College Sept. 29 at BC. Young led the offense Saturday against Tulane at Michie Stadium to give Army their second win of the season.

Sophomore running back C.J. Young put forth one of the most prolific rushing days in Army football history during Saturday’s 42-35 victory over Tulane. On Monday, he was named the Conference USA "Offensive Player of the Week" and Army Athletic Association "Athlete of the Week" for his efforts.

Young, who entered last weekend with 198 career ground yards, carried the ball 39 times for 192 yards and four touchdowns. His rushing attempt total stands as the second-highest ever by an Army player, falling just one carry short of the academy standard (40) set by Lynn Moore against Navy in 1969 and equaled by Gerald Walker against Harvard in 1981. Additionally, Young’s rushing yardage total ranks as the 13th highest single-game figure in Army history.

The Detroit, Mich., native became the first Black Knight to run for four scores since Michael Wallace did so against Louisville in 1999, tying a Michie Stadium record in the process. His fourth score, a 13-yard touchdown scamper with 2:26 remaining, capped a huge day and lifted Army from a 35-35 deadlock.

Thanks in large part to Young’s mammouth effort, Army racked up season highs of 83 plays and 506 total yards in the victory. The Black Knights had not amassed 500 yards in total offense since accumulating 564 total yards in their 59-52 double-overtime defeat of Louisville Oct. 7, 1999.
