What's the scoop?
n The Memphis Tigers are still in the hunt for a bowl game. Wins over Army Saturday and Cincinnati Nov. 24 would give them the six Division 1-A wins needed for bowl participation and a 4-3 record in Conference USA.
n This will be the fourth meeting between the two schools. Memphis holds a 2-1 series lead. Army’s only win came back in 1985 when the Black Knights crushed the Tigers 49-7 in a snow storm at Michie Stadium.
n Junior tailback Dante Brown, a USA Today prep All-American, had originally signed with head coach Tommy West when West coached the Clemson Tigers. He enrolled at Middle Georgia College and lettered for two seasons before signing with West at Memphis in February, 2001. "I guess we were meant to be together," West said.
n The Tigers have three wideouts with over 279 receiving yards. Senior Bunkie Perkins (39 receptions, 467 yards, 5 TDs), sophomore Antoine Harden (25, 383, 1) and freshman Darron White (25, 279, 1).
n Forty-eight out of 89 players listed on the Tigers football roster are undeclared majors or 53.9 percent.
n The Tigers featured a potent red zone offense having converted on 28-of-31 (90.3 percent) of their opportunities, including 24 TDs and four field goals.
n Tiger free safety Idress Bashir’s 100-yard interception return of a Curtis Zervic pass last season sealed the Memphis victory.
n Senior quarterback Neil Suber and former quarterback turned receiver redshirt junior Travis Anglin stand 6th (2,646) and 14th (1,431), respectively, on the Memphis all-time passing yardage charts.
n Suber (930 yards, 5 TDs), Anglin (856, 5) and redshirt freshman Danny Wimprine (831, 7) stand 1-2-3 on the Tigers all-time leading freshman passing charts going into the Army game.
