Conquering the Boston Marathon

Marathon Team
The U.S. Military Academy Marathon Team competed in the 106th running of the Boston Marathon, April 15.
Junior team captain Mark Davis led the men’s team with a finishing time of 2:45:22, a pace of 6:19 per mile. Junior Chris Kidder’s time was 2:49:20, Sophmores Nathan Smith and Adam Armstrongs times were 2:57:56 and 2:58:10, respectively.
Rounding out the team were freshman Tyler Berliner, senior Kevin Andreson, freshman Sean Hollars, freshman Thomas Kelley, freshman Matthew Davis, sophomore Garrett Cathcart, freshman Brian Shiozawa, senior Matthew Nethers, senior Francis Schafer, and junior Josh Conary. Almost the entire men’s team came in under 3:10:00 and qualified for next year’s Boston Marathon.
Leading the women’s team was senior Kathryn Kennedy with a time of 3:24:20. Other finishers included senior Kelly Howard, junior Jennie Hattman, junior Jenny Kirk, and senior Sarah Wolberg.
Other representatives of the West Point community included Riva Johnson, Michael Johnson, Clyde Buckley, Gail Dwyer, Brian Layton, James Corrigan, Jody Daigle, and Therese Raymond.
